Layers magazine has a designers showcase for their subscribers to show off their work. In 2008, I contacted them about being included and sent some samples. They responded by asking if I would like to be the spotlighted designer for the upcoming issue they were working on. In addition, there was a bit of money involved, plus I got a free subscription for a year. Sounded good to me. They asked for lots of samples and interviewed me for a nice article.
